Battle for Salvation Raffle Army Part III

So it's been awhile since I updated the blog about the army. I've been really busy with renovating a new commercial location for my martial arts school. Renovation work really sucks cause by the time I'm out the door to start working to coming home, it ends up being a long 12 hour day of hard manual labor. Trying to sit and paint for a few minutes can be tough as I start dozing off, but I WILL finish this army for the tournament.

Anyways, back to the army. So I ended up adding a Baal Predator to the army, just need to put some tracks on it. I believe that a club member has some marines he is willing to donate, but I will finish this army as it stands before starting the other unit. There isn't actually alot of work left, just alot of detail work such as highlighting and freehand chapter markings. After that the models need to be based and then it should be finished.

Sorry for this dark pic, but on the left is the Baal Predator that I just added. You can also see the other two Rhino/Razorback vehicles and the 3 Dreadnoughts

Here are the 2 assault squads with base coat painted on.

The tactical squad all done with highlights and shadow, plus line highlight. All that is left is the freehand work and painting the minor details.

This is the assault marine test piece that I did with the highlight and shadow blending. Next step is to do line highlighting for the black and it should be done (other than details).
More to come as I find time to finish this army within the next week and a half!

Battle for Salvation Raffle Army Part II

So I decided to go ahead and add a couple of more units to the army. I think it is a sizable army and is quite large for a raffle army. Anyhow, I ended up throwing in the following:

1. Chaplain with a jump pack
2. 5 Man assault squad with jump packs
3. 5 Man assault squad without jump packs
4. 2 Sanguinary Priests to go with each of the assault squads
5. 1 Dreadnought with multi melta and close combat arm

Overall, I think I am going to convert the predators into a razorback and a rhino so that the assault squad can go along with the razorback and the tactical squad can go with the rhino. I may end up throwing in another tank, possibly a Baal class predator. I really wish there was a drop pod for one of the dreadnoughts though. I'll have to see if anyone is willing to donate one. Plus I think I will be working on a special project on the side, which will be revealed on the last day before the tournment. Keep a watch out for further progress of this army.

BTW, if you haven't realized by now, this army is being painted as FLESH TEARERS, the beasts of the bloodline of Sanguinius :)

Battle for Salvation Raffle Army Part I

So I decided that I would help out with the tournament being held next month by painting the give away raffle army. To keep me plugging away at this army so that it gets completed in time, I decided to post up progress of the army as I work on it.

So far with the army I have the following:
1 Chaplain
10 man tactical squad (1 sergeant, 1 melta gun, 1 missile launcher, 7 bolters)
5 assault marines
2 Rhinos (with parts to convert into predator armed with twin las or autocannon)
2 Dreadnoughts (various arms)

I still need to fill out the bulk of the army, but I've managed to atleast get some work done on them. The army was donated by fellow gamers and club members. Not all the pieces were in great shape and had alot of mold lines. I had to pretty much scrape the models down one at a time and it felt like I was rebuilding them. But either way, it had to be done to look decent.
Pretty much the condition the army came in and the way it looked. Alot of pieces semi-constructed and some pieces broken and sort of painted.
Chaplain Cassius whom I've stripped of all Ultramarine iconography to become a generic Chaplain.
The start of the army being painted. (Also note that a great modeller and painter ALWAYS has a very messy work table. I mean, look at the space that I have left to work with while I have the models on the table....j/k)
The tactical squad and 2 dreadnoughts
Work being done on the predator. Getting a new paint job.
Keep an eye out for more posts to come. If you're a BFS Club member, please comment and post your opinions.
